Hoop
I don’t really know why, but I heard someone refer to the playing of basketball as “hooping” the other day. Actually, that’s not quite accurate. He said “we should hoop” which would have confused me if it had come from anyone other than him. I started to think about the possibilities of getting hula hooping mixed up in all of that, and I looked up hula hooping on ye olde Google. It appears that hula hooping is is much more popular than I thought. I won’t go so far as to say that it is now cool, but the active members of the hula hooping community seem to be presenting it as a cool modern sport. Whatever. I still can’t do it. I don’t have lifelike swiveling hips, but I do have kung fu grip.

WTH Michael,
“Hooping” is commonly known for basketball. No one publicly “Hula Hoop’s”. That’s not cool. Although I may own one.

“Hooping” is also what we used to call hula hooping these days as well. The word “Hula” has pretty much been dropped as referenced as Hooping.org Magazine. And yes, thousands of people are publicly hooping.
On a related unrelated noted, hooping is also the slang term in Canada for smuggling drugs inside a balloon by sticking it up your ass. Maybe your cartoon needs a third panel? *joking*
