The Apostrophe Vigilante

I absolutely hate this. I can’t stand it when people can’t tell the difference between plural and possessive. I’m not saying that these people are stupid, but they surely weren’t paying attention in school. Is it just me or is there a certain type of person who will make it through life regardless of education and upbringing and manage to understand little things like this? I guess if that’s true, there is always an opposite. I’ve often considered taking drastic action, like our friend The Apostrophe Vigilante.

In other news, we’ve considered having a few t-shirts printed, some on the logo design and some based on comics. Is anyone actually interested in this, and do you have any size/design preferences? Should we just not waste our time, or should we do something else, like posters of comics? If you have any inputs, feel free to comment or send me an email at mike@handrooster.com.

    Do you read these comments?
Because if you do, I think you guys should have a favicon

You know, this sort of thing:

Also about the merch, I’d definitely be interested in the shirts, as well as posters.

  3. Beth says:

I generally don’t wear t-shirts, but I would make an exception for that one.

  4. Nate says:

I’m a poster and sticker (bumper and 4×6) man myself.

  5. Ryinho says:

I’d buy the merch, but I’d better get a free sample or a discount! BTW, the favicon is cool.

  6. Ranaya says:

Ugh! I read these things backwards, so forgive my previous comment, but I still want a T-Shirt! I prefer the one with guy always sitting at his desk being a smart a$$. I love those strips. Sorry I don’t remember the name of all the characters……..

I completely agree! Every person I talk to about this seems to think that: a) I am insane for even thinking about it, or b) they are one of those people who doesn’t know their apostrophes.

  8. Xonni says:

    Misplaced apostrophes drive me nuts.

My high school had a button that read, “Your extra special.” When it should have read, “You’re extra special.” Obviously, I didn’t go to a top high school, lol.

And when people seem not to care (or maybe they’re too embarrassed to acknowledge the mistake), they only look more ignorant, imho.

  9. PhantomRacer says:

They didn’t teach me things like apostrophes in school, I had to learn for myself. But now that I know I always make sure my grammar is correct and highlight other people’s errors.
